Mike Pearson takes a look at the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program applications beginning.
This one time payment will be based on acres planted and the prevented planting acreage as well.
The USDA also released specific amounts for each individual crop.
Corn growers will receive $42.91 per acre. Soybean farmers can get up to $29.76 per acre, wheat producers can apply for $30 per acre and rice growers are eligible for almost $77 an acre.
Official note that acres reported as prevented from planting also are eligible for funds but at half the rate.
To speed up distribution of funds, the USDA is sending the applications out pre-filled from what was reported ot the offices last year.
Now, if you'd prefer not to wait for these documents in the mail, farmers can apply immediately through the local USDA/Farm Service Agency Offices.
Payments will be issued at 85 percent of the calculated rate to ensure the program stays within the amount allotted.
If funds are remaining then they will be redistributed to help get farmers to the full allotted amount.
Farmers have until August 15 to fill out the applications.
