Mike Pearson takes a look at how the worst outbreak of avian flu has brought good fortune to Brazil's egg producers.

The egg shortage in the USA has caused purchase limits and high prices.

In response, the Trump administration has authorized the import of 100 million eggs in an effort to stabilize inflation.

Brazil who is the largest beef and chicken exporter is ready to seize on the opportunity.

ABPA-- Brazil's industry group representing pork and egg producers has revised it's export estimate for 2025 to 35,000 ton- nearly double of 2024.

Brazil was only allowed to export eggs to the USA for pet food. But now, eggs can be purchased and will be used for human consumption.

However, fresh eggs will not be available for sale in the USA because Brazil does not have a sanitary agreement to export raw eggs directly to the consumer.

Brazil is making strides toward the USA markets. JBS-- the meat producer has attempted to purchase 50 percent of Brazil's largest egg producer Mantiqueira.

Another egg company is attempting a public offering in the USA.
