Mike Pearson takes a look at a report out by the U.S. Meat Export Federation that shows $19.1 billion in beef and pork exports were sold in 2024 which shows the global demand for U.S. protein. Beyond, the meat exports, it shows how the protein exports impacts grain farmers.

Corn and soybeans are vital to U.S. meat exports.

Over 525 million tons of corn was used to feed the beef and pork exports. This added 59 cents to a bushel of corn and it's value.

In the pork industry, over 101.7 million bushels of soybeans were used for the pork exports which added $1.46 of value to a bushel of soybeans.

Distillers of dried grains with soluble grains also saw a boost from beef pork and exports. Over 3.04 million tons of it was used in livestock production which created $525 million in economic value.

With global competition strengthening, the U.S. Meat Exports remain strong and vital to protecting U.S. grain prices.

Brazil and Argentina continue to build on the grain production and livestock exports but America's efficiency make both livestock and grain farming stronger.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness .
