Mike Pearson takes a look at how California has resisted E15 but may be close to give in.
The nation's toughest regulator has long fought back against E1-15 even though it has many positives including a lower price fuel and benefitting agriculture.
A bill passed Oct. 21 by the California legislature for the CARB and California Energy Board to explore the potential.
California Air Resources Board (Carb) And California Energy Commission are to meet and evaluate E15 by July.
If E15 comes to California, fuels prices have the potential to drop prices by 20 cents per gallon.
If completed, California motorists could get relief at the pump by $3b a year while maintaining clean air standards.
Renewable Fuels Association says CARB is disconnected from reality.
The changes proposed by CARB would bring more problems including fuel shortages and higher prices meaning more problems for farmers and consumers.
